Adding a slideshow is now very simple and quick here is a sample of how it would appear on your blog

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Just go into add new post, click the add media button, select your files, upload them & select slideshow….all done!

After a period of rest, well at least a period away from my pc, I´m back & will be exploring further aspects of WordPress.

This is my first piece of exploring as this section was written using the new quick post function from WordPress.

In this section I thought I add a few really helpful video tutorials that can be found on youtube.

I take no credit for these videos, all credit and thanks goes to those that took the time to make them.

I hope you find them as helpful as I have and please subscribe to their channels over on you tube.

Embedding Youtube Videos into you WordPress Blog

Adding images to spice up your blog has got to be a good Idea,

Zemanta

……but searching the web for images always seems to be a pain

Zemanta  a sort of content blogging engine seems to be the answer.

Its a free WP add in and it´s a great way to add images

and links and best of all it does most of the work

for  you putting recommendations and pictures just one click away.

You can activate Zemanta from

Users > Personal Settings in your dashboard:

Why oh why...

Well after many attempts & lots of effort trying to add a couple of videos from my PC,

I find that adding videos is a premium feature & one which you must pay for………

not something I wish to do whilst trying to learn how hard or easy it is to use WP

( maybe it would be a better idea for WP to allow non premium members to post

a limited number of videos to get the idea of how to do such things as opposed to none at all???? just a thought).

Adding youtube videos is another story   it’s as easy as copying the video’s URL from your web browser’s address

bar and pasting it on a line by itself in your post/page editor:

You then get something that looks like this video which is taken from a great tutorial uploaded by krashnik

Using the very clear guide from WordPress you can also tailor the size of the videos to suit

Wordpress

After my noob start yesterday & after the initial torrent of information I tried to absorb with reference to WP,

today seems a little easier the dashboard seems a little less daunting, the layout a little more convenient &

the whole WP thing seems to be a little less scary……….I´m hoping to add a few helpful links here & there

and any hints that have helped me through any uncertainties………..but it´s only the second day so be patient.

Navigation around WP for me isn´t as simple as it could be for the novice user, at least not for this novice user…………..

I feel It could be made a little simpler to use & a little more user friendly especially for those with little or no experience.

I must say though it is full of useful features & no doubt those experienced & well seasoned users out there will totally

disagree with all I have said thus far.

WordPress Logo

Well,

Here I am a complete novice on WordPress, I´ve never used it before, never had the inclination or need to use it before but I´ve now

decided it´s time to become acquainted with what is without a doubt the webs most popular blogging king.

Over the next few weeks I´m hoping this little blog will begin to look a little more presentable & interesting

but for now bear with me whilst I become a little more acquainted with the whole idea & concept of WP.

No doubt there will be many mistakes made, an awful lot of hiccups & the occasional disaster……….

this is a learning experience so if you have any tips for me on how to make things look a little better,

work a little better or move along a little easier please add a comment here & there.

thanks all

John
